The recent murder of Jahiem Robinson, an 18-year-old student, by his friend, brought back memories of Rip Ajax September 10 1980 incident.

Adrian Precia was also known as Ajax, studying at Spingarn High School. Ajax was 16 years old when he passed away. According to school management and friends, he was handsome, smart and tall, popularly known as Crush among school girls. He was good in studies and also secured good scores in studies. 

People in the United States, and Canada wanted to  check the details of Rip Ajax September 10 1980.

About the incident:

Ajax was a resident from Tree-Lines street north of National Arboretum in Northeast Washington. It was a normal day at school on the 10th of September 1980. Ajax was enjoying the company of one of his friends, Tanya Brown, in the auditorium at Spingarn High School. One of his other friends came into the auditorium and pointed out a small calibre handgun at Ajax.

Ajax’s friend, Tanya Brown, said that Ajax was terrified and shouted not to shoot him. But, Michael Joseph Pratt did not listen to Ajax and pointed out the gun at Ajax at close proximity. Michael did not have any intention for Ajax Murdered 1980 but fired a bullet at Ajax.

Unfortunately, the gun was triggered in the hands of Michael and hit Ajax. Ajax died on the spot. Immediately the school management was notified. The school management, without any delays, called the D.C. police department. Despite immediate action taken by the school management, it took time to send Michael behind bars.

After the incident, another 17-year-old boy was charged with carrying a dangerous unlicensed weapon. Michael was just 18 years old when the incident took place. He turned 58 years old in 2022 and had lost his career due to the incident.

Spingarn High School is situated in Columbia. Spingarn High School was launched in 1952 to provide education specifically for African American people. The school’s name was derived and dedicated to Joel Elias Spingarn, who made a mark as a famous educator. 

The incident spoiled the reputation and credibility of Spingarn High School. Consequently, fewer enrollments were observed in the Spingarn High School in the coming years, and the school was abandoned.

The information about Michael and his whereabouts is unknown. The D.C. police department treated the shooting as an accident. The boys played with the handgun when it triggered, resulting in Rip Ajax September 10 1980. Though Michael was officially charged with involuntary manslaughter, there is no information regarding action taken against him.

Conclusion:

In 1980s, it was normal for grown-ups to carry a gun just because it attracted the attention of others, and they believed that it made them look cool, among others. Another side of the story was revealed by Ajax neighbourhood, informing that Ajax used to enjoy company of dangerous people and thugs. Ajax was not afraid of anyone (or) anything.
